![]() “Reminds me of my childhood we used to have a yard we’d fill with all Christmas decorations so this is like my childhood for her.” Casey Hamilton, Taylor Niemetz, Maya Hamilton, 11 mos, and Susan Niemetz, of Linthicum Heights, pose for a photo on Santa’s sleigh Friday evening. ![]() “She likes all the lights,” said Taylor Niemetz, Maya’s mom who lives in the neighborhood. Little 11-month-old Maya Hamilton admired the show from her stroller, beaming with her freshly grown, hardly visible two front teeth. A Christmas Village is on display in the backyard. In addition to the regular show, Santa visits 206 South Camp Meade Road the second weekend of December, while the Grinch arrives the following weekend. “The electric is almost nothing, because we’re solar, and the credit that builds up over the year usually covers it.”Ī few hundred people come every day of the event, Callaway estimates. “I’m not safe to be left alone in Christmas departments,” Callaway said as he lightly chastised his almost 2-year-old daughter, Sylvie, for trying to eat her sudsy, soap-foam mohawk. While he wouldn’t specify a price, he said the production can be costly. “It’s the kids’ favorite part,” Callaway said. Micah Bennett, 6, plays in the “snow” Friday evening. Tots and tykes dot the scene covered in a slippery film from playing in the “snow” (soap foam) sprayed across the pavement. The backyard includes a walking path lined with sleds, winter dioramas of snow-covered trains and, of course, a 12-foot Christmas tree. His home’s front lawn is adorned with trees decorated with string lights, snowmen statues and a mailbox for children to drop off letters to Santa, to which Callaway personally replies. The 15-minute show cycles repeatedly starting at 7 p.m. The slideshow on the front of the house includes yuletide scenes and songs, with a heavy emphasis on Grinch imagery, while the back wall displays Hanukkah iconography. Reserve county police safely usher little ones toward the wonderland. The scene at Callaway’s home throughout December is hard to miss driving down South Camp Meade Road. ![]() “Cindy Lou Who” and the “Whos” are projected on the front of the house.
